Do you know DFT and the derivations of FFT from them in your sleep?
Do you know LaPlace and z-transforms?
While these are complex cases of complex math, this alone (complex math that
is) is really usefull in many DIY cases. Filters, ring modulators, VCOs,
pitch shifters etc would not work without it. Easy handling of complex math
will make these things pretty simple to calculate and dimension. You should
see the torture that awaits you ;)
Further, do you really understand how they work, what they are good for and
what they will not tell you and why this is?
Things like this is really, really handy at times, even as a DIYer ;)
