behavior when CV out of range

Hi all!

I'm a fan of higher headroom too. I use 2.5V audio amplitudes and 15V
supplies. But the initial question was about control inputs.

What can go wrong anyway?! Expo convertors have their own limits, a minimum
(leakage) current, and a maximum current. You can modify these if thats
really necessary. The resistor values in the convertors can be misused for
such limiting.
(For an example check the A110 VCO of Mr. Doepfer. Look what R15 does.)

For a filters CV input it is even desirable to be able to drive the filter
down to subaudio frequencies. Your envelope will be positive, so one can
even have very low cutoff sweeps.

Another thing is the PWM input which could cut of the output when
"overdriven". Even that can be a nice feature. One can use an
envelope to delay the onset of the sound.

If the circuit goes into weird behaviour one should look why it happens and
try to prevent it. If one can find a way to extend the proper operation
then its fine, otherwise there will likely be points in the circuit to
limit it.
So I think extra clippers are not necessary except in very rare circumstances.

Bye
 René
