Mark,
There are several ways... additive is one, FM uses sinewaves
(though its good fun to use other shapes too), fourier is more
to do with breaking down waves into their component sinewaves.
DX7's use FM, and a few synths use additive.. of course
you could take a look at your old cheapo sounds cards
the early ones used Fm synth chips...

Hi all,
Just some interest from my dad on the matter of
synthesis and stuff.
He wants to know about anything to do with making
sounds soley through the combination of sine waves
and nothing else. I think It's called Fourier
synthesis or something.
Anyway, anyone who knows anything about it, or
has made something fun that uses it, please tell
