 It sounds like you're describing the Roland GR-300 guitar synth Chuck
Hammer played on "Ashes To Ashes" and "Teenage Wildlife". It had the
glide-to-pitch feature you're describing. It's been a good long while
since I've heard the song, so take this with a grain of salt.
