Release Velocity question

Hi Y'all...

I was wondering if anyone could tell me a few things about Release Velocity, i.e. how it is
implemented via MIDI, so that I can implement it in my latest MIDI to CV firmware

As far as I understand, Release Velocity is contained in the velocity byte when a note-off 
message is sent and, therefore, can only be transmitted via a specific note-off message.

Am I correct? If not, please put me right....
