Hi all,

8 bit DACs cannot resolve accurately the 127 steps needed for the full
MIDI note range. You need 10bit linearity at least. Best 8 bit DAC is
the DAC08HP made by AD, 9 bit linearity. But why not buy a 12-bit one
and save any tuning problems. AD7545 comes to mind. Check the archives
on this, we have discussed this many times.

I will have a PCB available for a single channel midi-CV convertor in
the next few weeks. My web site will have more details around that time.
