Cygwin gives you the bash shell and associated unix tools (including a
c/c++ compiler) on Win95/NT.

Also check "Related Sites" and "Ported Software" on this page. I
use the shell mode inside of NT Emacs. This gives you unlimited buffer
size/scrollback, with advanced editing.
