I know what you mean. I had 8 three years ago and
I'm now down to 3. It's not a very sturdy chip. Even
though the adsrs in the jp6 and p600 are computer
generated and not as snappy as a 3310, I'm glad
they are not 3310s. 3360s are also easily lost to
the most innocent of misadventures. Luckily 3340s
even though they can get flaky are harder to kill.

Why not? So what if the board is a little bigger
than the chips footprint. Go vertical. SMDs on both
sides What would it take? a 4001, 4052, 074, a few
trannys and resistors? If JH is ok with it, I say go
for it. There could be a market for drop in 3310
replacements. I might even buy a few.
