I remember reading in the Harmony Central effects database about a volume pedal that used a light source and photoresistor on either side of a V-shaped slit atached to the pedal, which changed the amount of light that got through. I don't remember who made it, but it seems like this would be easily adapted to three-dimensional usage. blandon
