Check out Digi-Key's latest catalog for
Measurement Specialties LDT Vibration Sensor LDT0-028K

Its a polymer sensor for bending mode apps... It screams to be tried as
a percussion pickup... I've been using a similar sensor for a kick drum
pedal for several years.

They also have accelerometers (single and three axis).

Lucas has some reasonably cheap pressure sensors...

Its shopping time....
