Multi axis foot pedals?

Fender made one in the 70s. Rocker motion up/down
controlled volume, and rotating left/right (along
axis of your leg) controlled tone. I still have
the catalog and could possibly scan some pictures
if anyone is interested.

They must not have sold many of them, or those who
bought them liked them so much they never let go,
because I have looked for years for these things
and never found one. I think they were geared (no
pun intended) towards pedal steel players, so 
perhaps I need to make a trip to the pawn shops
of Nashville.

I've toyed with the idea of making one from a standard
pedal. They sell bearing sets for lazy susans in 
woodworking magazines. If this was mounted on a standard
pedal with a wooden pedal mounted on top, you get
the rotation. I just haven't quite figured out how
to mount the pot to this assembly.
