Get Howitzer & Hill: The Art Of Electronics. The best electronics book
I've ever seen. Doesn't assume previous knowledge, has lots of practical
info and is actually fun to read. If you Really Really want to get into
the theory, then Sedra & Smith: Microelectronic Circuits is pretty good.
