DEar The Old Crow ,and Roel ,
the original battery in the Polysix is a nicad ,
so If you want to replace it with a 3 volt Lithium battery cr2032
you HAVE to change the components to remove the charging current .
Otherwise the lithium battery may explode !

but I think you could use a nickle metal hydride cell and leave the
resistor in .....
