audio patchbay for SPDIF ?

I guess the wavelength (fundamental) should be about 100m.
I know that it works when I used ordinary audio cable,
(because shops were closed).
Up to 3-10m it should be all right.
Possible problems as usual:
some manufacturers try to save (!) by ommitting the
output signal transformers, thus groundloop.
There are web pages about how to do your own
SPDIFF transformers, optocouplers etc. etc.
I could dig that out.
