Hearing Loss

Many sources of hearing loss are environmental related.
Lawn mowers, small gasoline engines, motorcycles, power tools
are all sources of loud environmental noise. Typically you have
a much greater exposure to these sources than music.
Another element is ontotoxic medicines. A surprising number of medicines
are poisonous to the inner ear (including antibiotics and ibuprofen).
And so are many common solvents.
The Tinnitus FAQ at
http://www.cccd.edu/faq/tinnitus.html
is a major resource on tinnitus and hearing loss.
The link under "Prevention/Protection" has a list of ontotoxic substances,
and reviews of different types of hearing protection.
