WAY OT: HTML Document Indexing

Hi guys - 

Sorry to bring this up here, but it IS the best technical resource that I
have close contact with...

I've got a bunch of downloaded user manuals and things in HTML format
(including directory structures!) I'm looking for software that will;
a. Create a master searchable index of keywords for all the pages
b. Allow me to combine multiple pages into single large documents for
printing

- Any suggestions for freeware or javaware or something to do this sort of
thing?

I'm not even sure where to look or what to call this kind of thing...
