My friends mastered tracks for their records on CD and then cut to vinyl.
The vinyl sounds nicer to me.
The mastering house ran the tracks thru a ridiculously expensive valve
compressor before cutting, to reduce the dynamic range for vinyl.
Maybe the compressor added the 'nice' to the sound.
