howdy folks,
my last three or four phase shifter projects were
cop-outs in that i didn't completely do-it-myself.
instead i dug thru the junk pile, extracted an old
phase shifter and promptly modified it. first up an
old Mutron 2: i added 'range' control (amplitude of
built in LFO), external Vc, added a cap to the LFO to
make the timebase even slower, changed the resistor in
series with the 'rate' control to give the LFO a wider
range. replaced the el-cheapo op amps with lo-noise
versions. next time around it was an old maestro
'stage phaser': gave it a 'rate' control instead of
those three goofy rocker switches, and all of the same
as the mutron. then i resurrected an old EH small
stone that i had gutted and used on one of my
homebuilts quite awhile ago. now that i'm soldering
again i'd like to put in a switch to reverse the
polarity on the regeneration path (as someone
mentioned here the other day.) sometimes for me it's
easy enough to aquire an old junk fx box as starting
material for a project such as this, however i am
interested in building one from scratch at this point.
happy engineering and building all,,, Crystal
