Vinyl/CD

All,
Someone posted a reply saying that CD's had a limit of 20Khz and so what was
missing was some of the extra harmonics.. so I tried something...
I took a track I had on cd AND vinyl, I sampled the vinyl (at 44.116bit
stereo) and cut it on a CD... guess what, its STILL sounded better than
version that was on CD...
It cannot be sloppy mastering for the CD as I have Lots of things on both
vinyl and Cd and they simply dont sound the same... listen to Tangram (TD)
on CD and then the Vinyl..
From this I must conclude that one of two things is happening..
1) the Mastering for the Vinyl requires 'something' to be done to the
audio for it to goto,
2) the Needle (or indeed the cutter, LP) 'Modifies' the sound in some way.
Any suggestions?
Paul
