I have a "psycho" reaction to some CDs. They make me nervous.
I think it's my brain freaking out because it's missing information.
However I don't have that problem with CDs produced on my
system.
I convert rare old vinyl to CD when I can talk my friends into
lending their precious albums to me. I helps that I have an
old Kenwood KD-550 with an SME series III tone arm. If
this means nothing to you the Kenwood has a marble base
and the SME is titanium.
I use a DIY phono-pre I made to record the vinyl direct to HD.
I mean direct!! Nothing else in the chain. I have tried dynamic
noise reduction..but it sux same with compression. So pops
scratches and all go to CD. I like this much better. I think if
they used quality vinyl to produce CDs instead of crap master
tapes I would be fine with it.
Recent LP to CD conversions.
