IMHO this difference is mostly due to losses of information 
with the current digital sampling system, as well as added 
digital artifacts. The analogue system is "more accurate" 
in some way that your ear-brain mechanism can sense.

Using tube electronics instead of solid state gives a 
similar improvement in sound. Good idea though!
