Yes, they were exponential.  The ua726's were used in a slightly 
unconventional manner, as I remember (I don't have the drawings near me at 
this time).  I think the VCO's may have shared one of the 726's (or half of

it??)

Hi Michael:

You're right, the EML 101 vco's are exponential.   A single transistor, 1/2
of a 726, drove each oscillator.  No Vbe compensation transistor was used. 
 This design is extremely dependent on the thermal stability of the 726,
and will slew through a huge frequency range while the 726 is warming up.
