CV Info

Hello...

  this is my first post... i've been lurking for some time now, so hello
to all. 

  i've managed to aquire an Arp Omni 2, which is a simple (but great)
analog synth. i was told that there was now way whatsoever to externally
control this synth, but the presence of cv gate outs/cv vcf in plugs on
the back tells me otherwise.

  my question is, what are the specs for CV? i know most people would
recommend a midi to CV converter, but i dont want to use a midi
sequencer :) and i really want to create unique ways of controlling this
synth

  someone gave me a vague explanation that the voltage controls the
pitch of the note played, and something like 6 volts is middle C, 3
volts is C an octave below middle, 9 volts an octave above, etc... but
im not about to go wiring any sort power into this synth without knowing
what's going on first.
