More interesting ICs

In an adventure revolving around a broken Eventide Omnipressor, I came
across an IC that seemed to have some relevant and interesting applications:

Texas Instruments TL441AMJ
$14.00 ea (approx.)
this is a temperature compensated logarithmic amplifier. Looks like you
might be able to turn it into an expo converter on a chip. I could be
wrong. Also looks like there are a lot of more arcane things that one could
do with it, with little to no effort.

I just don't know enough about the finer points of the subject to know
whether or not it would be accurate or stable enough, or even make sense
economically.
