Eric: As you know it's widely held that someone is impersonating you and
spoofing the list... Its only fair for NEW USERS to ask any questions they
like, and to consider the opinions of all who take their valuable time to help
out and encourage those who want to learn about an exciting and rewarding
hobby, SYNTH-DIY.
Of course not everyone's opinion is invariably correct. When we go over the
edge, we need to take a "CHILL PILL" and consider that all things electronic
(tube, transistor, analog or digital or even GASP! microprocessor , as well as
electromechanical (guitar pickups, hammond organ tome generators) have their
day in the sun. And here at Synth-DIY the day is prolonged into the late
afternoon... we are all a little nostalgic...
So NEW USERS: Ask away. We will give you our own considered personal opinions
on the subject... Some of us are EXPERTS (self proclaimed or group
acclaimed... doesn't matter) Take all the advice you get and make your own
decision... But don't get sucked into personalities... we all occasionally
champion our own personal opinions here, sometimes right and sometimes wrong.
If you hear us start calling each other assholes, that's your cue that it's
time to ignore the posts...

WARNING----WARNING----WARNING
TO ALL NEW READERS OF SYNTH-DIY AND ANALOGUE HEAVEN:
You should be VERY careful when asking for advice
of the regulars on these mail servers. Many of
them are egotistical and ill-mannered.
Be ESPECIALLY careful when asking questions about
vacuum-tube electronics--some of the more intolerant
men here have a history of attacking and belittling
people who ask innocent questions about tubes,
especially for music or audio uses.
People such as Paul Perry are qualified in solid-state design;
however, they are IGNORANT in the vacuum-tube world.
And their egos and insecurities have turned them into
would-be crusaders against tubes, which they regard
as obsolete.
If you have questions about tube electronics, I can
at least refer you to more trustworthy sources. Please email
me at synth at metasonix.com.
