Is that so? I own a /|\ Falcon, having 16 audiotracks, 72 midi tracks and very few problems.
All on a Mot 68030/32Mhz Atari, developed in 1992. OK, it's all in black and white (Cubase only) and 640*480 res, but it works fine.
You'll need a PC at 1 GHz to do the same. Ever seen how the Pentium 3 is cooled? Its absurd. They must be kidding.
Intel and Microsoft are absolute shit. They develope a lousy product and you may pay for it.
And now there is a card for the Atari which set the bus clock bus to 50 Mhz, speeding up things with 400 to 1000%, called the Centurbo 2. You can insert 128 MB of EDORAM. *All* your audio can be in RAM. The operating system takes at most 3 or 4MB, Cubase takes another 4Mb giving you 120 MB sampling RAM and a resolution of 1024*768. What else do you need?

Sorry, couldn't resist, I'm in love with my machine:-)
