A very cheap way to make x**n where n is an integer, is to 
take a sawtooth and succesively integrate it.

If you do this at a high frequency (like in a pulse width 
amplifier) and sample the n th output when the input 
sawtooth level is equal to x, then you get x**n if 
everything is scaled right.
