This is a classic example of TPE

Technician Proximity Effect

The best one that happened to me was a stereo that started working when I
walked into the room ( someone's house - had never been there before ) to
fix it.

Subject: Proteus query

Hi all,

Rather off-topic this but I had a Emu Proteus in for repair, it wouldn't
go past the startup screen. So off came the lid, couldn't see anything
odd, but I pulled the jumper that supplies the internal RAM with the
back up battery. Pushed it back, and it now it works fine... with the
exception all the patches have gone. The customer is happy and he can
midi dump the patches back, but I want to know... What did I do to make
it work???

Regards,
