The paneljacks is also not cheap.
And a more personal note is that I prefer soft patchcables. Cat-5 ethernet
cables - which is what you normally get today - probably would be very
rigid not to say stiff. They would not remain in that right part of your
19" rack, they would sprawl in all directions.
---Per, a burdened sysadmin with to many broken ethernet cables to even
count...
