AFAIK there are minor changes from the 65802 to the 65C02 functionality
(in 8 bit emulation mode). But there is a difference, I can't remember
now what it was. Maybe it is only the timing..., a yes, db may have
a shorter hold time then 65C02. There are other little differences,
we had some redesigns due to this.
So be carefull !
I think that the 16-Bit version is not very usefull, multiplexed busses
(?is this still the case if you buy a chip, not embedded?), 8 bit data
bus. It makes C-compilation easier, that's true.
But I think for our purposes you would program machine language anyway.
