Linear PTC Thermistor - seen this?

Hi all,

I was just browsing this weeks "Electronic Design" (scopin' for Pease's column) and saw this add.

Vishay (brand) "Linear PTC Thermistor.... One component instead of three."

They go on to show that their part replaces a linearized NTC network (a thermistor + series R, and shunt R). They claim a maximum linear deviation of .01%/C, operating temps -55C to 125C, ranges 10 to 10K ohm, and tempco "up to 4000PPM/C" (presume you can get different values of tempco). The linearity spec is what stopped me in my tracks!

Question is: has anybody tried these and does this sound like it might be appropriate for VCO tempco? (sounds like it to me but I'm kinda new at getting serious about balancing tempcos).

They come in 1206, 0805, and 0603 sizes only.

They've got a "flashfax" # of 1-402-562-6729 document # 11345.

Just thought I'd throw this out there.

Buck
