memorymoog (and others) patch storage using MP3?

First, memorymoog specific:
While trying to manually edit/load back original patches using the manual for reference I
sometimes get into a condition where I'm in edit mode but the programmer is oblivious to
the interlock key to store the patch (supposed to use it in combination with the enter key
- but it doesn't respond to the Interlock key in the first place). If I start with a
stored patch and mess with everything but the keyboard mode function I think it stores the
edited patch ok. Something weird about the keyboard mode - or maybe the mono mode - that
prevents storing the patch. There is even some condition where there is no output unless
you are in mono mode. Hit C9 for live panel and it works ok. Is this typical?
Now more generic:
Has anyone tried using the cassette program storage function on this and similar synths to
store patches to a MP3 file on your computer? I have the original cassette for the
memorymoog and hear the modulation and see the transitions on the comparator on the pcb
but it doesn't load. I'd like to try someone else's patches to check this thing out.
Manually loading 100 patches isn't my cup of tea.... I'm a little confused as to how the
cassette interface is supposed to work in the first place - does it always load/store all
100 programs?
The total cassette dump is supposed to be 30 seconds. What would that be in a MP3 file
size?
Also wonder if someone's ever tried making a digital emulation of a cassette host, where
you decode the signal out of the synth and store it digitally (not as a digital audio
file) for storage and later playback?
