Yes, but in my experience the high quality ones  aren't that cheap. At least not the compact types. Also I didn't like the high rotation force of the ones I tried. Maybe I was unlucky.
Anyway, for my LFO I will use a VC waveform selector. It allows me to select two simultaneous waveforms (on separate outputs) out of eight possible. It uses two TL074, two 4051 and a heap of resistors. And that includes voltage regulators to get +-7,5V for the 4051s. The circuit board has only two wire links. I tested it yesterday and it worked perfectly on the first try. It will be on my forthcoming website.
