AC-coupling of pulse wave?

Hi all.

Should the pulse wave be AC or DC-coupled in the VCO? When you change the pulse width, the DC-level will change. The narrower the pulse, the more DC. If you DC-couple it, you will get pops if you patch it into a VCA, that is controlled by a quick attack. But if you AC-couple it, you will still get pops if you have a step in the pulse width modulation.
Any solutions?
