Stop bits? one lump or two

Y-ellow Y'all.
This may qualify for the dumb question of the year but how many stop bits
in a MIDI frame?
I'm trying to trace what would appear to be a framing error. All my
information on MIDI suggests that it's 8N1.
1 Start bit
8 DATA bits
1 Stop bit
no pirate pets. (Parity)
But I recall someone here some time back suggesting that there were 2 stop
bits. Looking through a range of other source code seems to suggest there
is only 1 stop bit but I have a framing error and I wouldn't discount
anything at this point.
The other possibility is that the counter divisor may be set wrong for 24
meg. I don't think so but it wouldn't surprise me. I have checked that the
clock is indeed running at 24 meg. Changed to a PC900 which, as far as MIDI
optos go, I know work. I've checked that I'm receiving data and I am.
Though it probably isn't receiving all the B0Hs it's being fed. I'm about
to hook a MIDI out port up (which is a bit of a bugger as I hadn't planned
on doing so) because it's the only way I could read an output from the
device. I can't hook it up to a terminal because they don't run @ 31.25K.
I re-checked the software on the simulator last night. (again and again) If
the software actually receives a valid B0 (controller on channel 1) it
processes it and does what it's supposed to. Conclusion: It's not receiving
the B0s in the first place.
I've found all the other problems, undoubtedly I'll eventually find this
one. But I would like to confirm that my information is correct.
Thanks in advance.
Be absolutely Icebox.
