diy GM synth

I have an AVM Apex card, which I spent way to much on, and I don't much like
the manuel (the box says you can do this and this and this, but the manuel
doesn't say how), but it would probably be a really good sampler if I could
make an external box for it. Would a project such as the one below work
with my card, or is there a lot of manufacture-specific stuff that would
need attention. If no one has heard of the Apex, it is supposed to be fully
soundblaster compatable and uses the Kurtzwell VAST system.

thanks,
Dylan
