Good book for tubes and stuff

Tony,
Another recent book from Newnes press is "Valve and Transistor Audio
Amplifiers" by John Linsley Hood, 1997, ISBN 0 7506 3356 5. It has some
overlap with the Morgan book someone else already mentioned, but there's
also a lot of other stuff. The first half of the book is tubes and the
second is salid state. He covers a lot of ground from basics to various
designs of the past (lots of pre-amp, RIAA, and power amp stuff). Like the
Morgan book it is Hi-Fi oriented. It's also a bit expensive (about $40
paperback in the US).
I've found several good electronics textbooks from the 30s-60s in second
hand bookstores for cheap. Also got a good stack of books from a professor
who was cleaning his office before retiring about 10 years back.
Good luck,

Hi all,
I would like a good book on tube amp design. The more technical stuff
the better. But not how to make your Fender to sound like a pre-CBS
unit. Any recommendations?
