DAC resolution / availability

The 2 word loading 12 bit DAC I have used had the 4 upper bits in one
register then the 8 lowest bits in the other - make sure that the device you
want to use can load the 8 MSBs in one write if your application depends on
it.
There are DACs available with 12 bit wide interfaces. Serial interfaces are
nice too - much easier to route 2 connections than a whole data bus.
