This is true. This was the same thing which ran through my head when
I looked at Harry's recent reply to my email. Although the suggestion to
minimize the number of encoders is quite a good idea, I have a feeling it
wouldn't be condusive to helping it feel more like an 'analog' sequencer.
The pros of pot reduction are cost and I could concievably hide it behind
a really small panel, say a 3 space paia fracrack, and reduce the number
of pots to 4. (1 for each of the rows and 1 to switch between "steps"..
numeric LED readout would provide the current step #) 

But what fun is that? 

Maybe somebody can direct me on how to infuse my gear with "soul".. :)
