tapped 4pole filter

I'll have to make this short as my m0th#%ucking Mail server hung up on me and
trashed a half-hours worth. I took a CEM 3320 4 pole filter and ran the
resonance/audio output to the 2nd stage. This gave a good 2pole response if
the rez was set to minimum, but if you increase the rez, it would get thin and
"wimpy". It wasn't caused by subsequent loading. I remembered some simulations
of a tapped Moog ladder, and settled on taling the rez point from the 4th
stage in all cases, and just tapping the audio at different points. Worked
great. Why did the 2 stage filter fail to perform? I isolated the output from
loading, increased the feedback, more drive to the Gm cell, nothing. Any
comments?
Harry
PS can anyone direct me to similar filter schematics I should look at for
clues? The Pro-One I did this to is VERY happy. :-)
