IRC for DIY'ers?

I think everybody who tries irc has this rather sudden revelation.. 

This is a good idea.. I used to idle on #synth occasionally with one or
two other people, but it was sometimes full of folk there for an unrelated
purpose. 

#synthi it is.. I'll stop by next time I have time to kill...
