Things like that do happen. A few years ago I was
on hunt for cheap second hand instruments, and so
I was eager to get "keyboards" magazine with its
classifieds on the first day - the main reason for
my subscription. All went fine over the years, but some
day I didn't get it, all my friends who bought it locally
got it before me, and about a week later it was in my
mailbox. This went on month for month: The magazin
appeared, but only a few days later than normally.
I did some research about the mail distribution system and
learned that all magazines were sent to our city in one
bunch, and then would be locally distributed. No way
that it should come to me later unless there were problems
on the very last path from the town's mail center to my
house. This was about the same time the German mail
started to hire seasonal workers for the mail delivery.
My only explanation was that one of these students
had an interest in keyboard music, too, read my "Keyboards"
before me, delivered it a few days later and thought I would not notice.
I filed a complaint at the mail company, they told me that
they thought my suspects were kind of ridiculous, but
you guessed it: From the next issue on I got my "keyboards"
on the first day again.
You won't believe such things until they actually happen to you,
but they do happen.
Which does not mean that people not answering to requests
that *did* make it to their door wouldn't happen either. (;->)
