Desperate for SSM2163 info

Yeeeesssss!!!!! :)
Y-ellow Paul, Guido, and Y'all.
	It works! It came down to a combination of things. Most notably:
1 I was exceeding the speed limit with the software generated clock.
2 It didn't like me having the pull-ups turned on on my logic probe.
3 One missing rotate right instruction.

Adding a nop instruction cured the first problem and I deduced that from
looking at the timing diagrams etc. The latter wasn't so easy to find. The
logic probe would register intermittent signals because the SSM2163s data
out port could not pull low enough with the pull-ups turned on. Sometimes
I'd get a signal there, other times I wouldn't. Of course I'd get a good
strong signal the other side of the chip because the ATMEL processors will
happily sink/source enough current to drive LEDs directly. That was a bit
of a red herring. Actually, as it turned out, rather a large red-herring.
Finally the problem in the code wasn't so easy to spot. It took me all
afternoon single stepping through with the simulator to work it out. The
channel output bits needed to be rotated 3 times but I only had 2 RRs
instead of 3. D'oh!

And just as well too coz the code I wrote was quite elegant. Very small and
compact. And of course fast. Too fast for the chip as it happens. :)

So obviously I had managed to interpret the rather cryptic AD data sheet
correctly and there was no electrical misinterpretation as I had thought.
Thanks very much for the suggestions and help. I most appreciate it. Now
for the really hard bit. Actually making the thing do something. And of
course there's that MIDI nightmare to get through yet also.
