606 problem...

Anyone ever come across this problem with a 606:

  Turning the unit on it will either lock up or start playing right
away..always a  random pattern that wasnt programmed into it. It also is not
holding memory.

 I am aware of the ECO that adds two diodes and a resistor on the foil side
for the power up-this change has been done to it (factory)...is there a
certain component that commonly fails to create this problem?
