Harry,

    The LTC1099 is an 8-bit ($15) A/D with S/H built in (if you need your result in 2.5 us).  But you still need
a DAC after it to get an analog voltage.  The front sheet of the spec sheet shows the ADC, DAC and op amp to get
the sample hold, a $20-$25 solution.
