I thought I would take this opportunity to show my "fixed"
Moog ladder. This is by far the easiest to build I've seen.
It sounds just like you want it to! I spent the other day
with my filter collection, I got out everything I had and
used the same conditions to AB them all. This one kicks
ass!! The MS20 (ota) came in a close second it had a tiny
bit more upper range and slightly more bottom but didn't
have the quality sound of the ladder. The Surge VSF came
in third. I just like it for some reason?? And the VC-
bandpass makes a great wah-wah. Other than that I see no
reason to build anything else.
I got out everything!!! canned filters too 3320,3372,2045
....ect. The Moog ladder still rules.
I spent some quality time with my clone. I tried all sorts
of diff amps...fet/bp/opamp and stayed with the 3080. It
just sounds better. I made one small modification changing
the way the res pot is connected. It's the only thing I
tried that actually sounded better. Thanks for the suggestion
Andrew.
This is a little dissappointing as I have all these filters
I don't really use and this was the second filter I built!!
Oh well life is for learning..
I have built this filter 4 times, it always works for me.
See the cookbook for pc layout. It doesn't change from the
(a) version, just remove the 0.1 cap in the res loop.
