I know personally I've tried twice to get a moog LP filter clone working..
both times the same transistor ladder version. The first time I ended up
giving up, the second time I gave up due to it not sounding so hot. (no
bass! although now I have a feeling it was due to the caps I was using.)

They're very finic-y circuits IMO. Not beginners stuff. I know because
when I was a beginner I tried and failed.

Tony Allgoods moog filter works well. The one on Tomg's site is also fine.
Both are very similar to most of the transistor ladders I've seen floating
around...
