Amongst my stuff I recently found an old power suply (20v) that used to be
part of a toy railroad or race car (this thing is really old). Since it
is the only power supply I have at the moment I thought I would use it to
power my project board. THe only problem was that the DC signal was
really wavy and it was showing up everywhere in the circuitsw I was
testing. I guess I could have opened it and changed a few capacitors but
instead I just stuck a cap between the two output terminals (100 uF).
This smoothed out the signal completely so I was happy with the solution
but I wanted to consult all the experts to make sure I am not being
stupid.

BTW, thanks to all who replied to my questions about long tailed pairs
(Paul Perry, Bill Layer and Gene Zumchak). I have seen circuits where two
same type transistors have emmiters coupled (like in one of tomg's vcf's)
a friend told me this was nothing other than a current mirror. I also
read in 4QD (neat site BTW) about a complementary LTP (ie: npn pnp). ALl
this is interesting but I sure need a good reference like the Art Of
electronics, problem is, tech america will not send it to me overseas so I
need to figure out whow to order this book as well as all the other stuff
I will be wanting to get in the near future .

Bye
