I just got my Paia MIDI->CV just a couple of weeks ago, and have not had a chance to build it yet. However, I have built Paia kits before, and judging by what I got, I can see no problems with it. As long as you are not going
to try to do anything fancy with it, I see no problem with the 8 bit DAC in a V/oct system. If you were going to use the micro processor for doing portamento directly, 14 bits or more would be nice. But as you noted yourself,
there are other ways of accomplishing this.
I will not say that I recomend you to purchase one, that is up to you, but I was willing to spend hard earned money on the Paia unit.
