MIDI mixer control messages?

Y-ellow Y'all.
	What is the standard way of controlling a mixing desk via MIDI? It would
seem possible that you could send note-on data using the key number as the
channel and the velocity as the level. But that doesn't account for PAN on
that channel.

Or is there a standard set of controller messages? I guess that would work
like... CCxx tells the system it's a mixer control message. Followed by
CCyy with the level information and CCzz with the pan information. I have
no idea what the standard is.

Any comments would be most appreciated.
